Stephanie Phillips, who was the girls basketball coach at Springfield Kickapoo for the past nine years died Saturday evening after battling colon cancer for almost three years. She was 36.

Phillips led the Lady Chiefs to a 214-38 record, and two state championships in 2003 and 2005 and a third place finish last season at the Show Me State tournament. Phillips played college ball at Missouri State and Southwest Baptist where she set season and career record for three-pointers. She also won two Class 2 titles while playing high school ball for Springfield Catholic.
