A three game winning streak by the Kansas City Royals and a five game winning streak by the Chicago White Sox collided last night in the Windy City.  A bad start for Bruce Chen and a dominating performance by Mark Buehrle gives Chicago an 8-2 win.

St. Charles native Mark Buehrle threw seven shutout innings, while giving up six hits.  He now is 5-1 over his last six starts.

Royals’ starter Bruce Chen would last only 3 1/3 innings, giving up three runs on six hits.  The big blow for Chicago would come in the eighth when they would put up four runs on KC reliever Victor Marte.

The Royal bats would finally come to life in the ninth when Yuniesky Betencourt hit a two run homer.  This brought to an end 18 1/3 scoreless innings by White Sox pitchers.

Game two will be this evening as Brian Bannister goes after win number eight, while Chicago will send Gavin Floyd to the hill.

First pitch is 6:05.
