Chris Carpenter lasted just three plus innings, allowing eight runs on nine hits. Carpenter hit two batters, including one with the bases loaded in a 12-5 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday evening at Busch Stadium.
The Brewers scored 11 runs in the first five innings including four in the third thanks to some defensive lapses by the Cardinals.  St. Louis got home runs from Albert Pujols and Jason LaRue
