Jose Guillen smashed a three run homer in the seventh which instead of being the icing on the cake proved to be the insurance Zack Greinke needed to pick up his third win in four starts as the Royals took two out of three from the Chicago White Sox in a 7-6 final Wednesday night at Kaufmann Stadium.
Guillen then smashed into the right field wall making a great catch in the ninth inning. His 14th homer of the year put the Royals up 7-1. Just like that it changed quickly in the eighth for Greinke who was cruising along. He gave up four runs on four singles and a bases loaded triple by Brent Lillibridge without getting an out.
I thought this would be a low scoring game and Greinke held up his end of the deal for the first seven innings, but the Royals struck quickly against Sox starter Jake Peavy as Billy Butler homered in the first, ending Peavy’s streak of 21 2/3 scoreless innings.

Peavy (7-6) was charged with three runs on seven hits in six innings, with two walks and five strikeouts. The loss ended a three game winning streak for the Sox starter.
