Albert Pujols hit two home runs and a double while driving in five runs. That was plenty of offense for Adam Wainwright who cruised into the seventh inning of an 8-0 win over Arizona.  With his two homers on Tuesday, it gave Albert 18 on the season.  It was his 37th multi-homer game of his career tying him with Stan The Man for the most in Cardinals history.

Felipe Lopez had four hits and got on in front of Pujols for each of his two homers off Arizona starter Dontrelle Willis.  The first came in the third inning and the second blast was apart of a four run fifth inning that finished off Willis’ night.  After Lopez led off the fifth, Pujols homered and then Willis walked Matt Holliday and gave up a single to Nick Stavinoha.  After reliever Carlos Rosa got a double play out of Yadier Molina, Rose intentionally walked Randy Winn to load the bases with Wainwright at the plate, but Wainwright singled in a run and Aaron Miles doubled in another.

As far as Wainwright, he retired the first eight batters before walking Willis and giving up a two out single to Kelly Johnson, but he got Tony Abreu to strikeout…one of seven for Wainwright.  He moved to 11-5 after giving up five hits and three walks in 6.1 innings.
