Through a ten year professional career and a full recovery from Tommy John surgery, Royals’ starting pitcher Anthony Lerew finally tasted victory in his eighth major league start, against one of the hottest teams in baseball.
The Chicago White Sox came into Monday’s game having lost to their crosstown rival Cubs on Sunday, which snapped an 11 game win streak. The Royals, hopefully started a losing streak for the Sox who dropped their second in a row after a 3-1 Royals win on Monday night.
St. Charles, MO. native Mark Buehrle labored through a 35 pitch first inning, giving up RBI singles to Billy Butler and David DeJesus. Buehrle lasted 6.1 innings giving up a season high five walks, the most he’s given up since a career high six back in 2003.

Meanwhile, this was Lerew’s night. His only run allowed with Carlos Quentin’s 13th homer of the season in the fourth. He went six innings and limited the big hits. Victor Marte, Robinson Tejada and Joakim Soria with his 19th save all pitched a scoreless inning of relief.
