Shelby Miller, the Cardinals top draft pick of last season and Eduardo Sanchez, the closer for the Springfield Cardinals along with Royals prospects Mike Moustakas and Eric Hosmer were named to the All-Star Futures rosters which will be played the Sunday before the All-Star game in Anaheim. It’s also the first time the Royals will send two players to the squad since Billy Butler and Alex Gordon.

Sanchez is 21 years old and throws 96-97. He has 26 strikeouts in 25 innings. Miller is also a pitcher at Class A Davenport and has only pitched once since May 29th as he is resting his arm and working on mechanics.

While the Cardinals bring the arms, the Royals bring the bats. The 20-year old Hosmer, the Royals’ first selection (third overall) in 2008, currently leads the Carolina League (A Advanced) in batting at .356.

Moustakas, the 21-year old third baseman, currently leads the Texas League (AA) in all three Triple Crown categories with a .355 average, 17 home runs and 63 RBI. He was the second-overall pick by Kansas City in 2007.
