Scott Podsednik’s three run, go ahead homer in the seventh capped a four run inning as the Royals rallied to beat the Astros, 5-2 at Kauffman on Thursday night to grab two out of three in this interleague series.
The Royals couldn’t do anything against Brett Myers for the first six innings, much like the night before with Roy Oswalt working a strong changeup, Myers was doing the same thing, for actually 6.2 innings, then the wheels came off.
Mike Aviles had a single, Wilson Betemit got an infield hit, and Yuniesky Betancourt’s drove in a run, before Podsednik dropped one in the right field bullpen.
Anthony Lerew deserves a big thumb’s up for his start. He made his first major league start of the year and was pumped up in the first inning keeping the ball up and Hunter Pence blasted a two run double for the Astros only runs. After that Lerew kept his team in the game throwing five innings of one hit ball and racking up a career high seven strikeouts.
