Jaroslav Halak had one of the better goaltending performances in this year’s NHL playoffs. Now you may not be a hardcore fan of hockey, but believe me when I say this could be a big move for the St. Louis Blues, when they acquired the 25 year old goaltender from Montreal.

Halak, not only opened the Stanley Cup playoffs with an upset over the Washington Capitals, but then the knocked off the defending champion Pittsburgh Penguins. If Pittsburgh was 1a in the Eastern Conference, Washington was 1b.

However, this wasn’t just a story of a goalie getting hot at the right time. Halak is a good goalie on a team that was the number 8 seed. He was 26-13-5 and had a save percentage of .940. He also had five shutouts during the season.

In return for Halak, the Blues send 21 year old Lars Eller, who scored two goals in seven games last year and 20 year Ian Schultz who was an 87th pick in the 2008 NHL draft.
