Trailing 6-3 heading into the fifth inning, the Royals scored seven runs on their way to a 15-7 win over the Houston Astros in game one of their interleague series at Kauffman Stadium.  Mike Aviles led the hit parade going 4 for 5 with a career high four RBIs. David DeJesus, Alberto Callaspo, and Billy Butler each had three hits as Butler raised his batting average to .341.

Kyle Davies was saved in this one lasting just three innings while allowing six runs. The bullpen then held Houston to one run on five hits with a lone run coming from DH Jason Michaels off Victor Marte.

The Royals’ seven runs came after the first two batters were retired by Felipe Paulino. Callaspo singled after the bases were loaded thank in part to a catcher’s interference called. The Royals continued with a two run single from Aviles, then after the bases were loaded again off Paulino, Yuniesky Bentacourt cleared the bases with his 15th double.
