Just a day after finishing up mini camp, the Kansas City Chiefs cut six players including running back Kolby Smith who was expendable with the emergence of Jamaal Charles last season and addition of free agent veteran Thomas Jones. Jackie Battle and Kestahn Moore are also competing for playing time.

The Chiefs also cut quarterback Matt Gutierrez leaving the Chiefs with three QBs. He was passed on the depth chart by Tyler Palko. That leaves Palko and Brodie Croyle behind Matt Cassel.

Also released were offensive linemen Jermail Porter and Nick Landry, tight end Leroy Banks and defensive back Andre Jones. Porter spent some time on the practice squad last season while Landry, Banks and Jones were rookie free agents.
