MU Decathletes 7th and 8th after day one of championships

Tiger decathletes Lars Rise and Nick Adcock are in 7th and 8th place respectively, in the men’s decathlon after day one of the event at the 2010 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, OR.

Rise won the shot put to score 828 points, to build his first day score to 3,915. Adcock scored 461 points in the 400m dash to score 3,912 points. Oregon’s Ashton Eaton leads the overall competition with 4,500 points through the first five events which is an NCAA first-day decathlon record.

The decathlon resumes today at noon with the 110m hurdles, javelin, discus, pole vault and 1,500m run.  The top eight spots earn All-American status.
