A three run homer from Ryan Ludwick, his third of the series and 10th of the year in the fourth inning got the Cardinals close, but it wasn’t enough as they were swept by the Dodgers after a 4-3 loss Wednesday night.

Manny Ramirez hit a two run homer off Adam Wainwright in the first inning and the Dodgers added two more in the third. After Ludwick’s shot in the fourth, there was no more scoring. It was the fourth loss of the year for Wainwright, who went six innings giving up eight hits while walking five.

Dodgers’ starter Clayton Kershaw, struck out 10 in seven innings and held to just six hits. The Reds won, so the Cardinals fall to one game out in the National League Central.
