Torrential rains have washed over much of the state, leading to flood watches in several areas. There are also tornado watches in effect for certain parts of the state. The National Weather Service says motorists should beware of low lying areas where roads can flood quickly.

George Amis with the National Weather Service in Kansas City recent rains means there’s no where for more water to go. The ground is saturated and the rivers are up. The National Weather Service says motorists should beware of low lying areas where roads can flood quickly and lead to dangerous situations for those who try to cross them.

Amis says there are mostly flash flood watches in effect now, not warnings.
