Colby Rasmus and Albert Pujols hit solo home runs, but Milwaukee Brewers starter Manny Parra struck out 10 Cardinals in 5.1 innings, as the Redbirds struck out 12 times for the game, losing in extra innings 4-3 at Busch Stadium. A Corey Hart sac fly in the 10th was the difference.

Parra didn’t pitch anything like a guy with a career ERA over five. He started the game by striking out Felipe Lopez and Brendan Ryan. In the third inning, Parra got Ryan again, second baseman Aaron Miles and pitcher Jaime Garcia. In the fourth, he struck out four batters, sitting down Albert Pujols, Ryan Ludwick and Colby Rasmus, while Yadier Molina struck out but advanced on a wild pitch.

Cardinals reliever Jason Motte gave up the go-ahead run off a sacrifice fly from Corey Hart to score Prince Fielder from third and give the Brewers a 4-3 lead.  Motte started the inning with a walk to Fielder and a pair of singles to Ryan Braun and Casey McGehee, giving Hart the opportunity to drive in the winning run.
