Missouri’s remaining speller has made it into the top 20 in the National Spelling Bee.

Shelbina 8th grader Elizabeth Platz has gone through two rounds in today’s semifinals…taking little time to polish off her second word of the day.

Only 19 of the 48 spellers who started the semifinals have surivived the first two rounds of the day.

She is bidding to become the third Missourian to wint he 85-year old contest, the first since 2000.
