Saint Louis University has been selected for the Louisville regional and will open the 2010 NCAA Baseball Championships against regional top seed Louisville Friday, June 4 with a 5 p.m. first pitch.

The other teams in the regional are Vanderbilt and Illinois State, who play at 1 p.m. (CT) Friday. The winners of Friday’s first round games will play on Saturday at 3 p.m. (CT), while the two losing team’s will play an elimination game on Saturday at 11 a.m. (CT). The winner of Saturday’s elimination game will play the losing team from Saturday’s winner’s bracket game in an elimination game on Sunday at 11 a.m. (CT), with the winner advancing to play the winner of Saturday’s winner’s bracket game on Sunday at 3 p.m. (CT). If needed, the two teams from Sunday’s second game will return for the final game of the Louisville Regional on Monday at 5 p.m. (CT).

The Billikens (33-27) are making their fourth trip the NCAA Championships and their first since 2006. SLU earned the Atlantic 10 Conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA tourney after winning four games in a row at the A-10 Championship in Camden, N.J. In all, SLU has won seven straight and broke the single-season wins record with a 5-4, conference-clinching victory against top-seeded Charlotte May 29.
