One day after getting all the runs they would need in the first inning, the St. Louis Cardinals could not get one run. Chicago’s Carlos Silva kept the Cardinal bats quiet all day as they shut out the Cardinals 1-0.

Silva was lights out for the Cubs. He would give up just two hits over his seven innings of work. Both of them would come off the bat of Matt Holliday. During his work, Silva would only have three balls hit to the outfield.

Adam Ottavino made his Major League debut for the Cardinals on the mound. He was filing in for the injured Kyle Lohse. Ottavino struggled through his five and two thirds innings of work. He would give up four runs on five hits. Ottavino would also walk six Cubs.

The rubber game of the series is this afternoon at Wrigley Field. The Cardinals will send Adam Wainwright to the mound. He will be looking for his seventh win of the season. The Cubs will counter with Ryan Dempster.

Game time is 1:20.
