The Kansas City Royals may be very glad to see the Texas Rangers leave after this afternoon’s game, as the Royals have not beaten the Rangers this season. Last night, it was a close game, but Texas got by Kansas City, 8-7.

Texas would jump on the board first with the first of two home runs by Vladimir Guerrero. This one would be a two run shot to put the Rangers up 2-0.

The Royals would tie the game up in the third with one run coming from a sacrifice fly from Jason Kendall. Another run would score after an error by the Rangers would let Willie Bloomquist score.

After the Rangers put up four runs in the fourth and fifth thanks to the long ball, the Royals get one back in their half of the fifth. A double by Billy Butler would knock in Mike Aviles, cutting the Texas lead to 6-3.

In the sixth, the Royals would tie the game up. Willie Bloomquist would hit a triple that would score Mitch Maier and Chris Getz. Jason Kendall would hit a bunt RBI single to knot the game up at 6.

Once again, Texas would put up two more runs to retake the lead. Kansas City would get their last run of the night in the bottom of the seventh on a sacrifice fly from Alberto Callaspo.

Brad Thompson would take the loss for the Royals. He is now 0-3 on the season.

The Royals and Rangers wrap up their two game series this afternoon at the K. Luke Hochevar will start for Kansas City against Texas’ Scott Feldman.
