Probably what the St. Louis Cardinals did not need was another injury to the pitching staff, but that is what they are facing as another starting pitcher is down for a while. Starter Kyle Lohse is the latest to be hurt.

Lohse had an MRI yesterday that showed, according to the Cardinals, no structural damage to his right forearm. He did have some inflammation. Lohse also underwent some other tests, and will go for more later this week.

The arm started bothering Lohse on Saturday during his start against Los Angeles. The arm had been troublesome for Lohse for much of last season.

The team is not saying when he may return, or whether or not he is going to be put on the disabled list. Lohse was scheduled to make his next start on Saturday at Wrigley Field against the Chicago Cubs.

Cards starter Brad Penny was put on the 15 day disabled list on Saturday after injuring his back Friday night, also against the Angels.

The Cardinals will start a three game series tonight in San Diego against the Padres.

First pitch is 9:05 tonight.
