The Kansas City Royals sent Zack Greinke to the mound to take the series against the Rockies, and to pick up his second win of the season.  Neither would happen as Greinke was pounded early and the Rockies beat the Royals 11-7.

Greinke would have his worst outing in almost two years as he would only make into the third inning.  By that time, the game was for all intensive purposes, over.  He would give up seven runs on nine hits.

Bryan Bullington could not stop the bleeding as he throw the next two innings and give up three more runs to the Rockies.

Down 9-0, the Royals would finally get on the scoreboard.  Kansas City would string together three RBI singles and a sacrifice fly to cut the lead to 9-4.

The other three KC runs would come in the seventh and eighth innings.  Back to back triples, by Jose Guillen and Alberto Callaspo followed by an RBI single by Mitch Maier would give the Royals two runs in the inning.

Willie Bloomquist blasted a solo home run in the eighth to give the Royals their last run of the day.

The Royals have tomorrow off before they will welcome the AL West leading Texas Rangers for a two game series at the K.
