Despite losing the Big 12 championship game to Oklahoma on Sunday and playing most of the season without top pitcher Chelsea Thomas, the Missouri softball team is still ranked 9th overall in the NCAA tournament and for the second year in a row, will host a regional.
Just as last year’s regional, the Tigers will be joined by Illinois, DePaul with Creighton joining the regional. Illinois is 43-6, DePaul is 38-16 and Creighton is 37-21. The Tigers come in with a 47-11 record and will host Creighton at 6:30 on Friday. The Bluejays will boast the Missouri Valley’s top pitcher in Tara Oltman who has set several MVC pitching records and the power of Renae Sinkler who set a MVC record for home runs this season.
