MU baseball swept for the first time since 2008

May 10, 2010 By Bill Pollock

The Kansas Jayhawks swept Missouri by scoring three runs in the bottom of the 10th inning to steal a 10-9 win on Sunday in Lawrence, Kan. It was the first time the Tigers have been swept since 2008 against Texas A&M.

Mizzou took the lead with two runs in the top of the 10th inning, with both runs scoring on junior Jonah Schmidt’s sixth home run of the year. However, KU answered with three in its half of the 10th to take the win.

The Tigers, ninth in the Big 12 standings, close the regular season with a six-game homestand, beginning with Nebraska. The University announced time changes MU-NU series to work around the Big 12 Track & Field Championships, which will be taking place at Walton Stadium, adjacent to Taylor Stadium. The first two games of the weekend are set for 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, with the series finale scheduled for Noon on Sunday.
