Brian Bannister lasted just three plus innings giving up seven runs as the Royals got pounded by the White Sox 7-2. Andruw Jones and Alex Rios both hit two run homers for Chicago. The Royals had 12 hits, but 11 of them were singles.

Jones hit his homer in the first inning with one out after a walk to Gordon Beckham. With two outs, Bannister could have gotten out of the inning with little more damage, but with two outs Rios doubled and later scored on a single. A.J. Pierzynski, who walked after Rios’ doubled scored lated on former Royal Mark Teahen’s single. Teahen had two hits last night and is hitting .250 with the Sox.

The Sox made it 5-0 with two outs after Paul Konerko doubled in a run. In the fourth, Bannister was lifted after walking two more around a single. Trey Hillman went to Bruce Chen who walked in a run and allowed another run charged to Bannister with a sac fly.

Bannister walked four and gave up seven hits in his three plus innings. The Royals got 10 hits off Freddy Garcia in six innings, but could never scrape together enough big hits to score more run.
