Rams’ head coach Steve Spagnuolo called it a minor procedure and while running back Steven Jackson will miss this month’s OTA’s (organized team activities), the team expect Jackson to be ready to go by the end of July at the start of training camp.

Jackson had a herniated disc repaired in his back that he hurt late in the season in November. Jackson was hoping to just rest his back, but decided just about a month ago to have the herniated piece of the disc removed from his back.

It will be critical for Jackson to come back strong. The Rams were looking at potential backups from previous starters. Former Steeler Willie Parker came to the Rams for a visit before the draft and the Rams also looked at former Eagle Brian Westbrook, but did not offer him a contract.
