That’s what Royals manager Trey Hillman said last night after the Royals’ 5-1 loss to the Chicago White Sox. “We ran into the wrong Peavy.” That certainly wasn’t the same Peavy who was 0-2 with an ERA over seven. He went seven plus shutout innings to pick up his first win of the season.

In his effort, he struck out nine and if wasn’t until the ninth when former Sox player Scott Podsednik homered that the Royals snapped a 17-game scoreless streak. The Royals managed just six hits, only four against Peavy who only walked one batter.

Meanwhile, Gil Meche continues to struggle. He is now 0-3 after giving up all five runs in five innings. Alexi Ramirez hit a solo homer off Meche adn Andruw Jones had two RBI for the Sox who move a game up on the Royals at the bottom of the division.
