With the final day of the regular season complete, the six-team field for the 2010 MIAA Baseball Championship is set. The tournament, featuring six teams for the first time (previously four), will take place May 6-9 at CommunityAmerica Ballpark in Kansas City, KS. and the Central Missouri Mules are the number one seed.
Central Missouri, the MIAA regular season champion after going 34-6 in MIAA play (42-7 overall), holds the No. 1 seed and will take on No. 6 seed Northwest Missouri Thursday at 11 a.m. Northwest earned the sixth seed by virtue of its 3-1 series win over Washburn this weekend, as both teams tied at 18-20 in league play. Emporia State will be the No. 2 seed after recording a 31-9 record in MIAA play (39-12 overall). The Hornets will face No. 5 seed Missouri Southern (19-18 MIAA) Thursday at 3 p.m. Nebraska-Omaha (28-12 MIAA) is the No. 3 seed and will play No. 4 seed Fort Hays State Thursday at 7 p.m.
