The 2010 NFL season is officially underway as rookie players for the Kansas City Chiefs and the St. Louis Rams open weekend mini camps. All of these players on the field have just one thing in mind, playing on Sundays this fall.
A total of 67 players were on the field Friday morning in Earth City, including the Rams first round draft pick, quarterback Same Bradford. All eyes were on Bradford as he ran through his first two plays, a handoff and then a pass.
After his first practice, Bradford said that he was nervous before the first practice, but really wants to use this weekend to establish himself as a leader on the team.
The Rams had 11 drafted players and 15 undrafted free agents that signed contracts, along with six first-year players who didn’t play enough last season to make the practice squad.
The majority of the players on the field at Rams Park were some 30 tryout players who are being given an opportunity to show what they have this weekend in the hopes of staying with the team.
In Kansas City, 33 players were on the field inside the Chiefs training facility for their first minicamp workout. Along with the newcomers like first round draft pick Eric Berry, there were seven first-year players currently under contract with Kansas City.
All seven of the Chiefs 2010 draft picks, along with 11 undrafted rookie signees were on hand for tryouts.
The Rams and Chiefs minicamps will hold practices today and tomorrow.
