Kyle Davies threw no-hit ball for 5.2 innings allowing just a single by Ichiro in the sixth. Davies pitched six innings and got the win as the bullpen held off Seattle for a 3-1 win.

The Royals were able to scatter three runs off Seattle ace Felix Hernandez who allowed three runs in the seven innings. In the second, Jose Guillen delivered a single for his 18th RBI of the year and Billy Butler gave KC a 3-0 lead with his second home run of the season in the seventh.

Former Royal and fan favorite Mike Sweeney kept Seattle’s hopes alive when he singled in Milton Bradley who doubled earlier in the ninth off Kyle Farnsworth who was on to try to save the game. Bruce Chen faced one batter for the save as Joakim Soria had the night off.

Davies talks about keeping pace with M’s ace Hernandez and says he never thought of pitching a no-hitter that early in the game.
