Jose Guillen hit a home run and had two RBIs as the Royals beat the Minnesota Twins, 4-3. Guillen has hit safely in 13 of his last 14 games and has a .351 average with a team 17 RBIs.

Guillen’s seventh home run broke a 2-2 tie in the Royals’ fifth inning. It was a solo shot of Twins’ starter Kevin Slowey that hit the left-field waterfall, 411 feet away. Guillen also had a sacrifice fly in the first inning.

Mitch Maier delivered an RBI triple in the sixth to put KC up 4-2. Brian Bannister prone to the home run ball gave up a Justin Morneau shot as he led off the Twins’ second inning with his fourth homer off. The Twins added a run on Delmon Young’s double and J.J. Hardy’s single.

Bannister worked 6 1/3 innings, giving up two runs on nine hits and two walks to pick up his first victory.
