For the third year in a row, the Missouri Tigers have been unable to be the Kansas Jayhawks on the Royals home field losing once again to their rival, this time 1-0 on Wednesday night.
The Tigers were shutout for the second time this season as they managed just three hits. Two of those came from junior Brett Nicholas who went 2 for 4 to extend his hitting streak to 12 games. He doubled in the bottom of the fourth inning and added a single to lead off the Tigers’ seventh. The only run came in the second inning after Kansas opened with a single, a sac bunt and then another single.
Mizzou falls to 19-17 on the year, while the win moves Kansas to 24-14-1. Mizzou returns to Taylor Stadium this weekend for a three-game series with Kansas State. Game one of the weekend set is Friday at 6 p.m. The series will continue with games at 2 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday.
