With the fifth overall pick in the NFL draft, the Kansas City Chiefs went with Eric Berry, a safety from Tennessee. He received strong reviews from every draft expert and many feel the Chiefs have hit a home run with this guy who will make an instant impact on defense.

This kid knew how to read offenses in college.  He can play deep, cover slot receivers and can also blitz which could help in Romeo Crennel’s defensive scheme.  Aside from all the great on the field skills, head coach Todd Haley was impressed with Berry’s off the field character.  The Chiefs ignored the need for help on the offensive line as three offensive tackles went in the first 10 picks and four of the first 17 were offensive line picks.

Head Coach Todd Haley talks about how and why Berry will fit in with the Chiefs.
