Colby Rasmus hit two home runs, including one to the lead off the ninth inning and Skip Schumaker followed later with a three run homer as the Cardinals scored five in the ninth to break a 4-4 tie to win another three game series with a 9-4 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Chris Carpenter had a 3-0 lead, but got hit by a pitch from Edwin Jackson that started some verbal jabbing in the second inning. Carpenter, still upset ran a little hard into Arizona second basemen Stephen Drew on a double play ball that started more verbal jabbing and made the benches cleared. Carp said that threw him off for awhile as he gave up two runs in the third.

In the sixth, Colby Rasmus tripled and scored on a wild pitch to make it a 5-3 game. After a double to start the eighth, Carpenter came out of the game and was relieved by Trevor Miller who gave up a double and later a wild pitch allowed the tying run to score.

Rasmus finished 3 for 4 with two homers, a triple and three RBIs. His average has shot up 94 points in four games to .273.
