Royals starter Kyle Davies had a two hitter going into the 7th inning and a 3-2 lead, but four straight hits led to two runs and a 4-2 loss to Toronto. Vernon Wells was 3 for 4 for the Jays. Scott Podsednik, leading the majors with a .457 average missed his second game.

Vernon Wells had one of those two hits, a home run in the fourth inning. Wells started the seventh inning rally when he led off with a double. Then Lyle Overbay doubled to the wall that Rick Ankiel felt he should have caught. “Yeah, it was pretty close, but I should have caught it.”

Wells had to hold up at third. Then Alberto Callaspo kept Jose Bautista’s hit on the infield to keep Overbay at third base, but he scored when former catcher John Buck dribbled one down the third base line on a swinging bunt to give Toronto the lead.

Zack Greinke looks for his first win when these teams wrap up the series in Toronto at 11:30 our time on Wednesday.
