The Blue Jays scored runs in five consecutive innings as Brian Bannister struggled getting touched for six runs in 5.1 innings as the Royals lost 8-1.

Offensively the AL leading Royals managed just five hits on the night as Brandon Morrow gave up one run in seven innings, allowing just three hits while striking out eight. Bannister gave up a solo home run to Travis Snider in the fourth inning and a three run homer to Jose Bautista in the fifth. Bautista also hit a two run homer against Luis Mendoza in the seventh to equal a career best five RBIs for one game.

Meanwhile, Toronto starter Brandon Morrow (1-1) carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning until a single by Yuniesky Betancourt ended the bid. David DeJesus added an RBI single in the frame.

Scott Podsednik, who leads the majors with a .457 average was not in the lineup, he went back home to Kansas City to attend to a family emergency. He’ll be in Toronto tonight, but not sure if he’ll be in the lineup.
