The Kansas City Royals started their six game road trip last night in Minnesota with a game against the Twins.  The Royals were hoping for a good start from their Cy Young winning pitcher Zack Greinke.  That would not be the case, as Greinke struggled and the Royals were pounded by the Twins 10-3.

Greinke would only give up two runs over his five innings of work, but a 27 pitch first inning was a sign of his night.  He would finish the game by having the same number of walks and strikeouts, five.  Greinke does not have a win yet this season.

At the time Greinke was lifted, the score was only 2-1, but that would change quickly as the Twins would get two in the fifth and another in the sixth.

The big blow from Minnesota would be in the eighth as the Royals bullpen of Robinson Tejada and Juan Cruz imploded and gave up five runs.

Yuniesky Betancourt would hit a home run for the Royals in the fifth, and would drive in another run in the ninth.  A David DeJesus triple and a Billy Butler single would add another run in the sixth.

Game two of the series is this afternoon as Gil Meche gets the ball for the Royals against the Twins Nick Blackburn.  Game time is 12:10.
