Paul and Stone leaving Mizzou basketball

April 12, 2010 By Bill Pollock

Mizzou Basketball Coach Mike Anderson announced that sophomore guard Miguel Paul and freshman forward Tyler Stone will transfer from the program in an effort to earn extended playing time.

In two seasons, Paul playedg in 69 of 72 career games, averaging 3.2 points, 1.6 assists and just under 12 minutes. Stone played in 11 games as a freshman, logging 43 minutes, while averaging 2.0 points and 0.8 rebounds.

In a statement released by the University, Paul said, “I just feel this decision is in the best interest of me and my family. I love Missouri. I love my teammates, the coaches and the fans. My teammates at Mizzou will always be like my brothers and I wouldn’t trade these two years for anything. I wish everyone here all the best.”

The departures will open two scholarships for Missouri and the Tigers already have the nation’s seventh-ranked recruiting class. Those scholarships are expected to be filled by junior-college players Ricardo Ratliffe and Matt Pressey have made oral commitments to Missouri. Ratliffe is a 6’8 power forward and Pressey a 6’3 shooting guard. The opening of the spring signing period is Wednesday.
