Tony Francis is the new women’s basketball coach at Lindenwood University in St. Charles. He was an assistant at Saint Louis for eight years. Before that he coached at Silex High School for eight years where he led the Owls to a 159-67 record with five district and five conference championships.

Football fans will have their first opportunity to see a national champion this weekend. The Northwest Missouri State’s football team, the Division II national champs will hold spring game at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Bearcat Stadium. The game is free. The Bearcats went 14-1 last year to win their first national title since 1999 and third under head coach Mel Tjeerdsma. Heading into 2010, the Bearcats have won 37 consecutive games in conference play.
