I took in the first of my two Opening Day games. The first is the season opener for the Royals against Detroit. My next game will be the following Monday when the Cardinals are at home.

Before the game, I was in the Royals clubhouse and had a chance to talk with newcomer Scott Podsednik about what his impression of the Royals were as an opponent and now how it has changed since he signed with the team this offseason.

Then I caught up with Willie Bloomquist. A guy who did it all for the Royals last year, playing multiple positions and filling in wherever Trey Hillman needed him. I asked Bloomquist just how difficult it is preparing everyday not knowing where he’ll be needed. I also talked to him a bit about last year and what it will take from a team in the American League that is going to play a National League style game.

Enjoy the two conversations and enjoy the baseball season.
