For the first time since 1996 when the Rams arrived in St. Louis from L.A., the Rams and Chiefs will not face off in the fourth and final game of the preseason in what has been known as the Governor’s Cup.  Instead the Rams and Chiefs meet in the regular season.

The Rams will host the Minnesota Vikings and Baltimore Ravens and travel to road contests at the New England Patriots and at the Cleveland Browns.

St. Louis will open the preseason at home facing the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1 (Aug. 12-16) of the preseason slate. The Rams have played the Vikings three times in the preseason since moving to St. Louis in 1995, but this will mark the first meeting in St. Louis.

In Week 2 (Aug. 19-23), the Rams travel to Cleveland. The game will be the first preseason meeting between the teams since the Rams moved to St. Louis, and only the second preseason meeting between the two teams since 1993.

The Rams travel to New England to take on the Patriots in Week 3 (Aug. 26-29). The game will mark the first preseason contest between the two since the Los Angeles Rams lost a 28-10 contest in Anaheim in 1994.

The Rams close out the preseason with a home game against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 4 (Sept. 2-3). It will mark the first preseason meeting between the two teams, and the first game since the Rams faced the Ravens in Baltimore during the 2007 regular season.

The Chiefs will open their 2010 preseason slate at Atlanta, marking the first time Kansas City has faced the Falcons in the preseason since ’88. Kansas City will travel to Tampa Bay for the club’s second preseason contest. The Chiefs and Buccaneers most recently met in the preseason in 2000.

The initial NFL contest at the New Arrowhead will be Kansas City’s third preseason contest as the Chiefs host the Philadelphia Eagles. The Chiefs will round out their preseason slate at the New Arrowhead vs. the Green Bay Packers.
