Royals’ Starter Kyle Davies, trying to win the No. 5 starting spot, had some command issues, but gave up only two runs and two hits in his 5 1/3 innings. He threw 87 pitches with three walks, a hit batter and a wild pitch, but was on the winning end of a 7-2 final over the Indians.

A bright spot for the pitching was Joakim Soria, appearing in successive games for the first time, pitched a perfect seventh with two strikeouts. On Monday, he never made it out of the third inning giving up four runs without getting an out.

The Royals batted around in a five-run first, with Mike Aviles getting an RBI double and Brayan Pena coming through with a two run homer. Yuniesky Betancourt went 3-for-3 to boost his average to .261 (12-for-46). David DeJesus was 2-for-2 and is batting .340 (18-for-53).
