Former Cardinal Joel Pineiro didn’t allow a hit against the Royals until the sixth inning. It was his former teammate Rick Ankiel who doubled off of him which led to one of Kansas City’s runs in a 10-2 loss to the Angels.

Royals’ closer Joakim Soria allowed his first runs of spring training. He gave up four earned runs in the third inning and never retired a batter. Soria came on after Kyle Farnsworth started and pitched two innings allowing just one hit. Though it was a brief appearance, it was his second outing in a row that impressed manager Trey Hillman as Farnsworth battles for the fifth spot in the rotation.
