Albert Pujols went 3 for 4 including a big home run blast as the Cardinals pounded the Mets with 19 hits on their way to a 10-5 win on Sunday. Pujols even stole a base…a good sign that his back is healthier.

The big inning was the third when Pujols singled and scored on Colby Rasmus’ homer. Ryan Ludwick then followed up with a solo blast. Ludwick would have to leave the game after brusing his shin and foot while fouling pitches off.

Starter Kyle Lohse pitched 5.1 innings, allowing a home run to Angel Pagan and four other hits and a walk. He struck out four. Despite the reports that Jaime Garcia had wrapped up the fifth spot in the rotation, manager Tony LaRussa wasn’t ready to hand that over yet. LaRussa still says that fifth spot is open for Garcia, Rich Hill or Kyle McClellan. All three will pitch Monday.
