B.J. Crombeen, T.J. Oshie and Paul Kariya scored in the St. Louis Blues’ 3-1 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday night, but will it be enough to keep their Stanley Cup playoff hopes alive.

The Blues trail the Red Wings by eight points in the Western Conference with only eight games remaining. The Blues have made quite a charge winning 10 of their last 15 games. It was a rare win on their home ice, but the Blues did it with great penalty killing and solid goaltending. Chris Mason made 30 saves as the top penalty killing unit in the NHL stopped L.A. on six of seven power play attempts.

Crombeen gave the Blues a 1-0 lead in the first period, and Oshie scored for the first time in 10 games to give the Blues a 2-0 lead on their first shot of the second period. Kariya got his 18th of the season after video review showed the puck was in the net after Kariya knocked it in during a scramble in front of Kings’ goalie Jonathan Quick That gave the Blues a 3-1 lead with six minutes to play.
