The Mississippi RiverKings avoided elimination on Wednesday night with a 2-1 win over the Missouri Mavericks to even the best-of-3 Opening Round series at a game apiece. The deciding game will be Thursday night in Mississippi.

Mississippi jumped on the Mavericks with a power play goal at the 6:57. The RiverKings made it 2-0 with a goal by Bobby Chaumont at the 6:47 mark of the second period which was quickly followed by the Mavericks only goal of the game scored by Jeff MacDermid just 36 seconds after Chaumont’s goal.

Mississippi’s Kyle McNulty made 22 saves earning the win and Charlie Effinger was outstanding in defeat stopping 30 shots.
