Andruw Jones and Alejandro De Aza connected off Zack Greinke in the second inning on Monday. Jones doubled to lead off the second and De Aza followed with a run-scoring triple, but that was all they could manage off Greinke who looked to be in midseason form during this Cactus League battle of aces. The 2009 American League Cy Young Award winner worked four innings against the White Sox, allowing two hits and one run. Greinke strike out three didn’t walk an opposing hitter.
St. Charlies, MO. native Mark Buehrle gave up three runs in four innings. The Royals touched up Buehrle for nine hits, six of which were singles, as the left-hander was extended out to 69 pitches.
