Ivan Rodriguez singled twice, driving in three runs. Josh Willingham doubled and scored, Ian Desmond had a pair of hits and Justin Maxwell drove in a run with a sacrifice fly as the Nationals beat the Cardinals 4-2.

The Cards didn’t do much at the plate with the exception of Ryan Ludwick who singled twice and picked up an RBI. Allen Craig doubled and scored, and David Freese had an RBI pinch-double.

Projected Opening Day starter John Lannan allowed only an unearned run over four innings, with two hits, no walks and two strikeouts for the Nats. Starter Kyle Lohse wasn’t good, but wasn’t bad either. Bloop hits and ground balls that found holes led to four runs in four innings. Lohse walked two, struck out one, and needed 71 pitches (44 of them strikes) to get 12 outs.
