Rick Ankiel hit a three run homer for the first Royals home run of the season and thenMitch Maier smashed a two run homer as the Royals beat the A’s 11-10, but pitching continues to be a concern for manager Trey Hillman.

Robinson Tejeda, fighting for a spot in the starting rotation, gave up five runs on four hits and three walks in two innings. He threw 45 pitches, and just 22 were strikes. Kyle Davies bombed again after two shutout innings, Davies gave up three runs in the fifth on four hits. Philip Humber and Bryan Bullington each gave up one run.

As you’ll hear from Hillman, the pitchers can’t even locate their fastball. He doesn’t want to use the excuse that it’s early in spring training. He said his pitchers have thrown their fair share of live batting practice and got an early start in camp.

Today, he’ll get strikes from Zack Greinke as he makes his second start of the spring taking on Colorado.
