Big 12, Big East will square off in Yankee Stadium Bowl Game

March 9, 2010 By Bill Pollock

Yankee Stadium will play host to the inaugural Pinstripe Bowl on Dec. 30, 2010. The Yankees announced at a news conference on Tuesday morning, with the Big 12 Conference and the Big East Conference.

Both conferences are committed through 2013. The game will feature a matchup between the Big East team with the third-best conference record and the Big 12 team with the sixth-best record after removing both conferences’ BCS Bowl participants.

The inaugural game will be the first college football game held in the Bronx since Dec. 15, 1962, when Nebraska beat Miami (Fla.), 36-34, in the House that Ruth Built.
