The Kansas City Royals signed pitchers Luke Hochevar and Carlos Rosa. Hochevar spent some time at AAA Omaha where he tore up minor league hitters. He was 6-13 with a 6.55 ERA last year in 25 starts. Rosa was a September call up with a 3.38 ERA in seven relief appearances. The Royals are still need to sign Billy Butler and Alberto Callaspo.

Yesterday, the Royals played a scrimmage against each other. Hochevar served up one of two home runs hit by new centerfield Rick Ankiel. Manager Trey Hillman was pretty happy with what he saw from his team considering they were a little behind in not being able to take batting practice the first two days of spring training.

Hillman is happy with the pitching overall and thought the team looked fundamentally sound in the field stressing to the players to keep things simple and the great plays will come.

The Royals play a charity game with Texas on Thursday to start Cactus League play in Surprise.
